Tell Me Like It Is

One of these days my boys are going to figure out that when I go running for a pen and paper it means that I'm going to write down something they said or did that I want to share later on my blog.  But, for now they are blissfully ignorant.

I had such a moment to record this evening & I thought I'd share it now...

The timer had just gone off for the cookies that I had in the oven.  But, when I peeked in at them I could tell they needed another minute or two.

Wyatt, my oldest, said (with a touch of attitude) "Why didn't you take them out?"

Me:  "They aren't done yet."

Wyatt:  "How do you know they aren't done?"

Me:  "I looked at them and I can tell they need more time."

Wyatt:  "You can't tell that by looking at them."

Me:  "I can."

Wyatt:  "No you can't."

I could see where this conversation was headed.  We had discussions with our boys before about not arguing with me & their father.  So, I decided to put an end to this one.

Me:  "Wyatt, there is a word for what you are doing with your mother right now.  Do you know what it is?"

Wyatt:  "Yeah."

Me:  "What is it?"

Wyatt:  "Torturing."
