Since I run around the house like a maniac every day constantly doing stuff but never getting anything done, I felt like I needed to gain some control. So, I decided to put a schedule, or a partial one, down on paper. I'm a very concrete gal in certain areas. I need to be able to see what is going on so it doesn't all feel like one giant blur.
At the same time, I don't like to be bound to a schedule. I love the flexibility that my life has. So, I thought I'd share my (very loose) daily schedule that I wrote down. (By the way, most of this schedule revolves around Baby Joseph. He's the king of this castle right now. So, I figured if I get his basic schedule written down I work in other things around it.)
Between 5-6 a.m. - Baby wakes for 1st feeding (nurse). He (hopefully) goes back to sleep. Depending on how early he was awake and whether or not I was up with him during the night, I may also go back to sleep until the first older boy awakes.
6-6:30 - Momma crawls out of bed because the other boys are waking. Immediately start the coffee.
6:30 - 7:30 - Boys make & eat their breakfast (usually cold cereal) with my assistance and get dressed. When they have completed these tasks they are allowed to watch a kid's show on t.v. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee to jump start my brain (it's bad, I know) and check facebook and read some blogs.
7:30 -8:00 - Baby usually wakes up somewhere in here. Change & dress him. Make sure oldest son's lunch is ready for school.
8:10 - Put oldest son on the bus
8:30 - Second feeding for Baby - (baby cereal), wash breakfast dishes.
9:00 - By now everyone is fed, dressed & ready to go. Send Edison & Charlie outside to play. Start some of my housekeeping & laundry.
Between 9:30 - 10:00 - 3rd feeding for baby (nurse) and then he goes down for morning nap
10:00 - 11:30 - Run around the house like a maniac trying to get stuff done while being quiet enough not to wake the baby, keep the other boys quiet enough not to wake the baby, handle multiple altercations between the other 2 boys, and forget what I had started about 100 times. Baby usually wakes around 11:00.
Betweeen 11:30 - 12:00 - 4th feeding (baby veggies)
12:00 - Lunch for big boys & then they go back out to play until naptime. Hubby comes home for lunch also (he works a 30 second bike ride down the road). Try not to talk his ear off because I'm so hungry for adult interaction.
12:30 - 1:30 - 5th feeding (nurse), work on getting everyone down for a nap.
1:30 - 3:00 - Hopefully everyone is napping & I can write on my blog, check e-mail, eat my lunch, and get a few chores done. We have yet to master the art of getting everyone to nap at the same time every day. This would be the ideal
I had to keep this a bit short. The children are needing me. I will continue the remainder of our daily schedule next post. Have a great day!
Karen! I feel like I need a nap after reading your schedule...I can't imagine how tired YOU must be at the end of the day!
