How I Feel Today

Today I feel like I'm in a circus. And, the act that I perform is juggling...except that I'm really bad at it.

I'm the juggler that's sweating profusely, looking very uncoordinated, very unpracticed, and barely keeping a few plates in the air.

Meanwhile, in the ring next to me is another juggler. And, she's cool, calm, smiling, and in a really cute leotard with not a single unsightly bulge or ripple showing. And, she's moved beyond juggling plates. She's juggling swords. Flaming ones. One-handed.

Am I the only one who looks at other woman and wonders how they can do all they do? I really, really try not to fall into that comparison trap. But, on days that I'm spinning my wheels, I've got dried spit-up all over my shirt, grumpy children, and a to-do list that is only getting longer, I start to feel a little inadequate.

I will admit it folks. I can't do it all! Is anyone out there willing to admit the same?

  1. I understand how you can perceive your cup as half empty, but remember that you are doing the MOST IMPORTANT THING for your children (and their daddy too) by choosing to be there for them. Remember all those kids who got dropped off in a hurry each am at KC, and had to wait and wait and wait some more for Mommy to come back for them? Those Mommies didn't get everything done either, plus they missed all that precious time with their babies. Hang in there, sister, in a few very short years they will all be in school all day...you can catch up then. <3

  2. It must just be what women do...compare ourselves to others...it's not a good thing at all. I tend to notice patience in other women. I'm always working on that one. Or how some women always look so put together without even trying. Or how come I can't have more self control in regards to my eating...which means they must care more about themselves than I care about myself. And now that I'm blogging I see all these other women who have many children and big beautiful clean houses...and they do crafts! When I wonder? Plus, I always considered myself pretty crafty...maybe because none of my friends are and they tell me that I am! Well...in blog land...I feel like a pion crafty person compared to the other amazing ideas and talents of these many women! You have lots on your plate Karen...but soon this short season will pass and there's no rewind button on our children's childhood. Slow down and do the best you can. I'm sure M.O.P.S. on Friday is just what you need! Relax and enjoy!

  3. Karen,
So glad I'm not the only one who feels overwhelmed! Thanks for stopping by My Dear Trash- I wanted to let you know that Vintage dresses sell for Big $$$ on ebay. Do a quick little search and I think you'll decide it's worth your time. There's nothing like making a few bucks to lift our spirits again. Good luck

  4. I agree! No I do not think we can do it all, or can we have it all. We need to do what is most importand and have what is most important. And do not worry abpout the rest. Take a deep breath and know that what you are doing is enough. You love your boys and youe hubby. That is enough.
